Batangas - Calatagan beach resort - Caisip Compound

We have traveled to Calatagan to visit one of oldest Spanish Lighthouses in the Philippines, the Punta de Santiago Lighthouse. We were feeling spontaneous at the time so when we saw the pristine waters from afar, we were really tempted to go for a quick swim and if we can, spend a night in a nearby beach somewhere. We asked Mang Jun, the lighthouse keeper, if he knows a good & affordable place where we could stay. He pointed us out to Caisip compound.  A beach resort not far from the lighthouse and seems to be the "go to" place of the locals.

How we got there:
On our way to the lighthouse (you can check the details here ). The sign is on your right side. We intially thought that it was a private ranch or farm because of how the sign and gate looks. I think it should have been better if it just said Caisip Compound beach resort ^_^. Anyway, just enter and follow the road.

Be prepared though, this is not your usual high-end and full of amenities beach resort,  the only accommodation around are kubo-kubos (huts) that you can rent for 2,000 for a night (for the smallest ones), there are a couple of big beach kubos as well unfortunately we weren't able to ask for their price, if you're a day tripper - it only costs around PHP60 but if you want to camp your tent out and stay overnight, it's just PHP100 per person, which I think is a good deal already considering the seclusion of the place and its clean beaches. One of the good thing about the place as well is that the nipa huts are spaciously scattered around making it a not so crowded resort. You can also see the lighthouse from there.

There are a couple of people having their Christmas party when we got there and they even brought their videoke. ^_^

The beautiful off-white sand and clear water makes it a perfect beach to go to after climbing the lighthouse.

  1. Hi, by any chance, do you have the contact details of the caisip compound? I've been trying to search the net for them but to no avail. I would like to try to make reservations at the resort. Would appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Grace, thank you for dropping by, unfortunately, we don't have their contact number, it was a spur of a moment thing when we went there and it was only recommended to us by the lighthouse keeper since his cousin takes care of the place. They also don't have a website and they do not really advertise/promote the place. Only the locals and a couple of passers-by knows about it. The place is best for walk-in backpackers and campers. I suggest you bring in tents if you plan to go here, just in case there are no more huts for you to rent out. It's much cheaper too. :) Just note that restaurants are a couple of miles away so you have to stash lots of food, drinks and "chicha". I hope this helps. :)

I already checked your website and I bet many people will be thrilled as I am to finally have the information they need to get to an affordable and beautiful beach that is just a couple of hours away from Manila. Perfect for those on a budget and just want to camp it out. I hope to visit your place again soon (with family this time). I'd also be updating this post to include this new found info.
